Cargo to Nigeria collected across Thurrock, Grays and Tilbury.
Thurrock has 5,481 Nigeria-born residents — the largest Nigerian community in the East of England and ninth largest we serve. Grays, Tilbury and South Ockendon hold most of it, right beside the Thames ports our sea cargo sails from.
Thurrock is where the corridor gets literal. Tilbury and London Gateway sit inside this borough, which means a barrel collected in Grays may leave the country from a few miles away.
The Nigerian community here has grown quickly, concentrated around Grays, Tilbury, South Ockendon and Chafford Hundred, and it is the largest of any area in the East of England.
Population figures on this page are from the ONS 2021 Census (country of birth: Nigeria).

About Thurrock (Grays)
The port connection is real rather than decorative. Tilbury has handled cargo for well over a century and DP World London Gateway sits just along the estuary — this stretch of the Thames is one of the UK's main freight gateways.
For customers it mostly means convenience: Thurrock is a short run from our Dagenham base along the A13, so collections here are quick to arrange.
What people here usually send
