Shipping to Nigeria Price List

Transparent rates — the quote we agree is the price you pay

Here's what shipping to Nigeria costs with GBAS Worldwide: air freight at £6/kg with no minimum weight, sea cargo from £2.80/kg, barrels £100, and cars from £2,000 with duty and clearing included — collected across London and the home counties, or dropped off at our Dagenham base from anywhere in the UK.

Where the price gets your cargo. Every rate below is to our Lagos office in Ifako-Gbagada, where the recipient collects. Want it delivered to the door — in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt or any of the 36 states and the FCT? We do that too, quoted by state with your shipment, because a Lagos address is a short run and a northern one can be a day on the road.

Air freight rates (UK → Nigeria)

One rate, no minimum and no maximum weight, plus a £20 handling fee per shipment paid here. That makes small parcels genuinely small — a 3 kg box is £18 plus handling, not a 10 kg minimum. Air is billed on chargeable weight: the higher of the scale weight and the volumetric weight (L × W × H cm ÷ 5,000).

Sea prices are to our Lagos office, plus a ₦5,000 handling fee paid in Nigeria on collection. Barrels, bags and the size-38 box are a flat price however full they are — so pack them full.

SUV / 4x4£2,500 – £3,500Length and width of the vehicle
Van£3,500 – £5,000Length and width of the vehicle

These are landed prices: they include the sea freight, customs clearing, import duty and the port charges at Apapa. Most companies on this route publish the shipping alone and leave the duty for the port to spring on you. Collection from the port is included; onward delivery to another state is quoted by state. Nigeria does not allow the import of vehicles more than 12 years old — see car shipping for the paperwork.

Full containers

20ft and 40ft containers to Tin Can Island and Apapa are quoted on request — routes, contents and current sailings all move the price too much to publish a useful number. Ask for a container quote with your load and destination and we'll price it properly. If you are not filling a container, our groupage service charges £320 per cubic metre instead.

What's included — and the fees explained

  • Handling: £20 per air shipment, paid here. Sea shipments carry a ₦5,000 handling fee instead, paid in Nigeria on collection.
  • Collection: quoted by postcode across London and the home counties — Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey. Or skip the charge entirely and drop off at our Dagenham base: anyone in the UK is welcome, and no collection fee applies.
  • Customs clearance in Lagos: handled by us on every shipment. Import duty on commercial goods is set by Nigeria Customs on the value — estimate it with our duty calculator. Vehicle prices already include the duty.
  • Door delivery in Nigeria: optional, quoted by state and added to your quote. Collection from our Lagos office is free.
  • No surprises at the Nigerian end: the ₦5,000 sea handling fee and any door delivery you asked for — both agreed before anything is collected.

Your exact quote depends on weight, size, service and destination, and we confirm it before anything is collected. Prices may change at short notice with global fuel costs; the price confirmed at booking is the price you pay.

Pricing FAQs

Are these prices to the door in Nigeria?

No — every published price is to our Lagos office in Ifako-Gbagada, where the recipient collects. Door delivery to any of the 36 states and the FCT is available and is quoted by state when you ask for a quote: a Lagos address is a short run, a northern state can be a day on the road, so one published figure would be wrong for most people.

What is the cheapest way to ship to Nigeria?

Sea freight for anything heavy or bulky — £2.80 per kilo with no minimum, or a flat £100 per barrel. Air is worth the premium for urgent or valuable items. Filling your barrel or box properly cuts the per-item cost further, because a half-empty barrel costs the same as a full one.

Is there a minimum weight?

No — by air or by sea, and no maximum either. A 2 kg parcel by air is billed as 2 kg. That is unusual on this route, where 10 kg minimums are common, and it is what makes small, urgent items affordable to fly.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Your quote states the shipping rate, the handling fee, any collection charge and — if you want it — the door-delivery charge for your state, all before anything is collected. Air cargo carries a £20 handling fee paid here; sea cargo carries a ₦5,000 handling fee paid in Nigeria on collection instead.

How much does a barrel cost to ship?

£100 if the barrel is yours. If you need a drum we sell them at £55, so a barrel and the drum together is £155. By sea to our Lagos office, plus a ₦5,000 handling fee paid in Nigeria on collection. Door delivery is quoted by state.

How much does it cost to ship a car?

A standard car is £2,000, SUVs £2,500–£3,500 and vans £3,500–£5,000 — and those prices include customs clearing, import duty and port charges at Apapa. Most companies on this route publish the shipping alone and leave the duty for the port to spring on you; ours is the whole bill. Larger cars are priced on length and width.

Why do your prices say they may change?

Fuel is the biggest cost in freight, and it is moving with the conflicts in Iran and Ukraine. We keep these rates current, and the price we confirm when you book is fixed — it is only between your visit and your booking that a published rate can move.

Why is my billed weight higher than the scale weight?

Air cargo is billed on chargeable weight — the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight (L × W × H cm ÷ 5,000). A large, light box of bedding can bill at more than it weighs. Send us the box dimensions and we will tell you the chargeable weight before you commit.

How do I pay for my shipment?

Directly with us, once your quote is agreed — never through this website. The agreed quote is the final price.
