Cargo to Nigeria

7 working days by air · 4–6 weeks by sea · all 36 states

Whatever you need to send to Nigeria, we ship it — by air or sea, to our Lagos office or on to any of the 36 states.

We ship cargo to Nigeria from London and the home counties — by air in 7 working days at £6/kg, or by sea in 4–6 weeks from £2.80/kg, with no minimum weight on either. Barrels, boxes, parcels, containers and vehicles, collected from your door and delivered to our Lagos office — or on to any of the 36 states.

A 40ft high-cube on the road — 76 cubic metres of space when you need a full container.

From a single box to a full container, we handle cargo to Nigeria for families and businesses across London and the home counties. Personal effects, clothing, food and household goods, electronics, documents, commercial stock and vehicles — if it can legally be shipped, it is probably something we move every week.

You choose air for speed or sea for value. We handle everything after that: collection from your address, the shipping itself, customs clearance on arrival, and delivery to our Lagos office for collection — or, if you prefer, on to the recipient’s door anywhere in Nigeria, quoted by state.

What we ship

The everyday traffic on this corridor is more varied than people expect. In a typical week we move:

  • Personal effects and household goods — the contents of a room, a kitchen or a whole home, collected and delivered door to door
  • Food and provisions — garri, beans, spices, tinned goods and dried fish, usually by barrel
  • Clothing, shoes, fabric and aso-ebi for family occasions
  • Electronics, laptops, phones and appliances
  • Documents — passports, certificates, contracts and property papers, usually as a small parcel by air
  • Vehicles — cars, 4x4s, vans and motorcycles
  • Commercial stock for businesses importing into Nigeria

Air or sea?

Air freight takes 7 working days and costs £6/kg to our Lagos office, with no minimum weight. It suits anything urgent, valuable or fragile — documents, electronics, gifts with a date attached.

Sea freight takes 4–6 weeks and costs from £2.80/kg, or £100 per barrel. It suits anything heavy or bulky: barrels of food, furniture, household goods, and vehicles.

Plenty of customers split the two — the laptop and the documents by air, the barrel by sea. If you are unsure, tell us what you are sending and we will price both.

Where we collect from

Right now we collect across London and the home counties: all 32 boroughs, and the whole of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey. Kent has the largest Nigerian community of the six — see cargo to Nigeria from Kent for every town we collect from there — and Essex, led by Thurrock, comes next: see cargo to Nigeria from Essex. Hertfordshire is third, with Welwyn Hatfield its biggest community: see cargo to Nigeria from Hertfordshire. In Buckinghamshire, nearly three in four Nigeria-born residents live in Milton Keynes: see cargo to Nigeria from Buckinghamshire. Surrey's biggest community is around Redhill and Reigate: see cargo to Nigeria from Surrey. Berkshire's centres on Reading and Slough: see cargo to Nigeria from Berkshire. London alone is home to more than 117,000 Nigeria-born residents (ONS, Census 2021) — the heart of this corridor, and our home turf.

Our base is in Dagenham, East London, in the middle of one of the densest Nigerian communities in the country. Anywhere else in the UK, you are welcome to drop off with us. Tell us your postcode when you ask for a quote and we will confirm collection for your area.

Where we deliver

All 36 states and the FCT. Every shipment arrives at our Lagos office in Ifako-Gbagada, where the recipient can collect it. If you would rather we delivered to the door — in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Benin City, Enugu, Kaduna or anywhere else — we quote that by state: a Lagos address is a short run, a northern one can be a day on the road. See where we deliver in Nigeria for the state-by-state picture.

Transit times vary by state and by current port conditions. We quote a realistic range rather than a date we cannot guarantee, and we tell you if congestion is likely to affect your shipment.

What it costs

Prices are to our Lagos office for collection; door delivery to any state is quoted separately and agreed with the rest. Air cargo carries a £20 handling fee, paid here. Sea cargo carries a ₦5,000 handling fee instead, paid in Nigeria on collection. Beyond that, the quote we agree before collection is the price you pay. The full Nigeria shipping price list sets out every rate and fee in one place.

Common questions

How much does it cost to send cargo to Nigeria?

Air freight is £6/kg and sea £2.80/kg, both with no minimum weight, and a barrel is a flat £100 — all to our Lagos office for collection. Air carries a £20 handling fee here; sea carries a ₦5,000 handling fee paid in Nigeria on collection. Door delivery is quoted by state. Ask us and we will quote your exact shipment before anything is collected.

How long does cargo to Nigeria take?

Air freight is typically 7 working days to our Lagos office; sea freight is typically 4–6 weeks including clearing. Lagos ports can add delay in peak season, and we will tell you if that is likely rather than promising a date we cannot hold.

Do you collect from my address?

Yes — across all 32 London boroughs and the whole of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey. Anywhere else in the UK, you are welcome to drop off at our Dagenham base. Give us your postcode with your quote request and we will confirm.

Which parts of Nigeria do you deliver to?

All 36 states and the FCT. Shipments arrive at our Lagos office for collection; door delivery anywhere — Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Benin City, Enugu, Kaduna — is quoted by state.

What can I send?

Personal effects, clothing, food and household goods, electronics, documents, commercial stock and vehicles. Some items are prohibited by Nigeria Customs — cooking oil, retail-pack soap and common tablets among them — so check anything you are unsure of with our items checker before packing.

Do you handle customs clearance?

Yes, we clear every shipment on arrival in Lagos. What we need from you is accurate information about the contents and values — nearly every clearance delay traces back to a contents list that did not match the shipment.

How do I pay?

Directly with us once your quote is agreed. No payment is taken on this website, and the agreed quote is the final price.

Are you a registered UK company?

Yes. GBAS Worldwide Ltd is a UK-registered company (No. 16358607) based at 105 Frizlands Lane, Dagenham RM10 7HL. You are dealing with an accountable UK business, not an intermediary.
